DAY 1: Thursday 10 September 2020 (MT, L, D)
Today we depart for eight fun and interesting days exploring the beautiful Tumut Valley and surrounds. After a short stop for morning tea, we continue on to Canberra to visit Cockington Green Gardens. We enjoy lunch here and a train ride through the delightful and fascinating display of the meticulously handcrafted miniature buildings from around the world, set within beautifully landscaped gardens. This afternoon we travel through to Cooma for our overnight stay.

DAY 2: Friday 11 September 2020 (B, MT, L, AT, D)
After a warming breakfast, we head into town to visit the state-of-the-art Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre. After morning tea in the grounds, we make our way to Adaminaby to the Snowy Scheme Museum. After a warming roast lunch, we continue on to Kosciuszko National Park to visit Yarrangobilly Caves, exploring the striking, yet accessible Jillabenan Limestone Cave. After a light afternoon tea, we make our way to the picturesque town of Tumut.

DAY 3: Saturday 12 September 2020 (B, MT, AT, D)
This morning we visit the Tumut Visitor Information Centre to pick up our guide for a town tour. On our return, we enjoy morning tea and visit the Tumut Broom Factory – the last original Millet Broom Factory in Australia. After our tour, you’ll have free time to wander the boutique shops in town and enjoy lunch (at own expense) at one of the many eateries on offer. This afternoon, we visit Tumut’s Blowering Dam then Tumut Valley Violets, nestled amongst cottage gardens with over 700 different varieties of african violets on display and available for purchase. After a delightful afternoon tea here we head back to our motel for some down time before our night out at Tumut River Brewing Co. Our passionate hosts will guide us through the microbrewery, sampling their refreshing selections of craft beers and ciders. For dinner we enjoy a delicious selection of gourmet pizzas and sweets to finish.

DAY 4: Sunday 13 September 2020 (B, MT, L, D)
Today we travel through Tumbarumba to Laurel Hill for a short step through the enchanting ‘Sugar Pine Walk’, a breathtaking canopy of towering pine trees. Our journey continues to Boggy Creek for an entertaining 2 hour award winning live performance set in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains. We continue to Glenroy Heritage Reserve to visit the Pioneer Women’s Hut. After lunch here, we hop back on board for a scenic drive to the surrounds of Lake Albert to visit the studio & alpaca paddock of Ashculme Textiles where we’ll meet Fiona and her team of beautiful alpacas.

DAY 5: Monday 14 September 2020 (B, MT, L, D)
Today we venture to the historic railway township of Junee to visit the beautifully restored Monte Cristo Homestead for morning tea and a guided tour. Monte Cristo has been featured on a number of TV programs for both its splendour as well as being Australia’s most haunted house with seven residential ghosts! Next we visit Green Grove Organics, Liquorice and Chocolate Factory for a tour, tasting and a warming lunch. After a look through the store’s selections of sweets and giftware, we make our way back to Wagga Wagga, stopping at the prestigious Wollundry Grove Olives. On return to town, we visit the stunning Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens, hosting 20 hectares of themed garden beds, a mini zoo and flight aviary.

DAY 6: Tuesday 15 September 2020 (B, MT, L, D)
Today we head out to Narrandera Fisheries for a tour and morning tea in the grounds, followed by a visit to Glendale Citrus and Hazelnut Orchard where you’ll board their tractor drawn covered carriage for a tour of the grove. After a delicious lunch on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, we’ll be greeted with a visit from the Orchard’s ‘Little pink van’, serving soft serve ice cream with homemade syrups and crushed hazelnuts. This afternoon we make our way to the charming town of Coolamon for a visit to the Coolamon Fire Museum. While we’re here, we visit the town’s heritage-listed ‘Up-To-Date Store’, a museum and gift store with the Lamson Cash Railway System, the only ball-style cash carrier in the world in its original location. Lastly, before our return, we visit Coolamon Cheese Factory, housed in a historic 1920s building where you’ll learn the cheese making process, how milk is tenderly stirred, cut and moulded into beautiful delicious cheese.

DAY 7: Wednesday 16 September 2020 (B, MT, L, D)
This morning we pick up our guide for a City Highlights Tour. On return we enjoy morning tea, followed by a visit to Wagga Wagga Art Gallery which incorporates a stand-alone gallery to exhibit the National Art Glass Collection. For lunch we’ll dine among the vines at Cottontails Restaurant and Winery with picturesque countryside views and a relaxed atmosphere. You’ll be treated to an assortment of canapes and gourmet wood fire pizzas. This afternoon we continue through to Bowning to visit The Crisp Galleries, home to world famous glass artist Peter Crisp. Here you’ll have a chance to browse the gift gallery and wander the beautiful gardens. Our overnight stay is in the quaint town of Yass.

DAY 8: Thursday 17 September 2020 (B, MT, L)
This morning we visit the Cooma Cottage – a nationally important heritage property once home to the great Australian Explorer, Hamilton Hume. After our tour and morning tea in the grounds, we continue through to Mittagong to enjoy lunch overlooking the best views in all of the Southern Highlands. A lovely end to a fabulous time away.
